Sat, Jun 21 2025 - Let’s Do It Again: Sweetwater Creek State Park at Night! (View Original Event Details)
| ![]() |
It was a great evening for hiking. It was cloudy and the temperature was in the mid 80’s. We did introductions at the Parking Lot. Where I introduced Adrain and she had us move our cars to the employee parking area. She asked if we wanted a tour of the mill, naturally we all said yes. Sweetwater offers tours of the mill by reservation. I am sure all of us would agree that you need to take this tour. From the inside you can still see the burn marks from 1864, and she told us how the women that worked there got angry with the owners and feed the Union Troops. After the tour we headed to the orange trail to get 5.5 miles, of which about an hour was in the dark. We stopped at numerous places for Adrain to explain the flora, fauna, geology, or history of where we were standing.
I would like to thank Jonah for joining us on his first Second, Jeff and Natalie for joining us on their fourth hike. Thanks to the rest of the group for making them feel welcome.
One last note. This year I got a few night pictures. They are, I will let you decide.
