We met by the picnic tables near the Visitor Center where we did introductions. We reviewed the workplan, did a safety brief, and were told about upcoming events.

The tools were stagged by the trail head. All of us but Mike and Kirsten were assigned to group 1 where we started deberming and cleaning conduits at the trail head. Kerstin was assigned to group 2 doing the same thing starting at a point about a third of the way around the Environmental Trail. Kerstin’s group also performed cyclic maintenance of the part of the 24 Gun Tail that goes from the Environmental Trail to Old Mountain Road. They had to stop when they encountered Yellow Jackets. After finishing this the two group leapfrogged the rest of the way around the Environmental Tail deberming and cleaning conduits as needed. Meanwhile, Mike was moving between the groups ensuring we were following the workplan. We finished by returning the tools to the gator.
