Write Up:

As predicted, it was very hot on our hike at Jones Bridge CRNRA this morning. However, we had 14 determined hikers who covered 5.8 miles with 400 feet of elevation in 2:11. Great job folks. We saw one box turtle. Luckily Russ did not try to give him a drink of water. We passed by a park ranger at the Environmental Center who was trying to give a lecture to a bunch of kids, who were not listening. We heard her say, "If you're not listening, you won't know what to do." We all laughed because it really applied to a lot of AOC hikes.  I even got to use it once on the hike.  I think  it is my new catch phrase.

We got to welcome Trish on her 7th AOC hike.  I hope she enjoyed it and will come back for many more.

This was my 300th hike with the AOC and everyone on the hike made it a very fun hike.  My wife, Trevor, was waiting for us in the parking lot with fruit, pound cake, candied pecans, and cheese wraps. She also had sweet and unsweet tea which was a crowd favorite after a very hot hike. I also got a Joyce centennial rock which now has a special place on the plate rail in my living room. Thank you Joyce.

As hot as it was, there was a lot of talking and laughing during the hike, so I think everybody had a good time.

By clicking the Album link above, you can view the great pictures of the hike, provided by Joyce and Lee.  A special thank you to you both.
