Mon, Jul 21 2025 - Monday Morning at Leita Thompson Memorial Park (View Original Event Details)

We had a very friendly, 3.7 mile hike around Leita Thompson this morning, shorter than planned because of the threat of thunderstorms, but enough for a nice workout. We were grateful for the heavy tree-cover on the trails, because the sun was very bright until the storms approached. The trails at Leita Thompson were surprisingly eroded compared to months ago. The heavy storms have wreaked havoc on them causing gullies, exposed roots, and the potential for some ankle twisting.
We had three newbies on today's hike! Megan was on her very first AOC event, and Trish and Judy were both on their 8th. All three ladies were welcomed into the group and will hopefully return for more hikes soon.
I was happy to get two really nice porta-potty signature photos (thank you, Megan and Judy). Both ladies were really great sports and smiled as they exited the structure.
I don't know how the drive home was for others, but after leaving the parking lot, I soon got into a very heavy shower. I was happy that the group didn't get caught in the rain before the hike ended.
Thanks to Lee for his GPS tracking and one other photo, which has been added to the album! ~ Joyce
