What a miraculous group today - - despite warnings that we would start the hike in a little rain, NOBODY withdrew from the hike! We had a full 15 who were willing to get wet with me today. It drizzled lightly for 45 minutes (longer than I expected), but then, the sky cleared and we actually had a little sunshine. It started a heavy rain as I was driving out of the parking lot! What luck!
We saw a lot of deer this morning, possibly because of the weather. Janet G. counted them as we spotted them, and she said we passed 38 deer in all! That's the most I've ever seen on one hike. There was a herd of 8 deer, plus groups of others. My final picture is of a solitary deer up on a ridge.
Mike led most of the hike this morning. I haven't hiked for a while, and I have gotten out of hiking shape! (A UTI doesn't help, either.)
It was so nice to see friends I hadn't seen in a few weeks (due to a vacation in Hilton Head and Mexico). And it was wonderful not to hear a single person gripe about getting wet! Like I said - - a miraculous group.
Oh! And welcome to Diane who was on just her 4th hike today. 6 more events and she'll no longer be a newbie!
Mike has added some of his photos to the album. They come first in the album. (Thanks, Mike!) ~ Joyce
