Sat, Sep 13 2025 - Rise and Shine with Friends on the Beltline (View Original Event Details)
|
We had a energetic hike today on one of the country’s most significant urban development projects called The Atlanta Beltline - Eastside. If you haven’t been here before, this area is full of life with trendy restaurants and shops, lots and lots of urban hikers (us), walkers, runners, strollers, riders, scooters, pets, graffiti, artists, and more fun scenery to view as you walk.
We could not have asked for better weather with a starting temp around 65 degrees, sunny, and no chance of rain. We covered a distance of a little over 6 miles, and, since this area is pretty much flat walking, we had just a sight elevation of around 200 feet.
Starting right on time at 8:30 am, ten of us headed southbound on the Beltline from the starting point on Highland Avenue passing by the Krog Street Market, over through the Krog Street Tunnel and over through the eclectic neighborhoods of Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown.
We went as far as we could go on the East side trail and made a u-turn and backtracked north passing again by and through Krog Street Market, then over to Old Fourth Ward and Ponce City Market area for another u-turn.
We finished up around 10:30 am back at our starting point near Inman Perk Coffee for a fun social gathering after the hike.
Thanks to all who joined us especially our newest members who help build the club - Gail, Jim, and Katrien.
Keep on the lookout for more urban hikes like this one as a regular part of my scheduled events
