Thu, Oct 2 2025 - Thursday Morning Semi-Fitness Hike at Island Ford (View Original Event Details)
| ![]() |
Another very enjoyable Thursday morning hike at Island Ford. The air stayed cool, and we often caught a nice breeze, but honestly, I sweated! I guess the 20.59 minute mile pace wasn't too fast for the group, because they were able to talk throughout the 5.6 miles. I, on the other hand, didn't talk much!
We took a unique route this morning, if that's possible after over eleven and a half years of weekly hikes at Island Ford - - but it was different. The folks behind me don't seem to pay much attention to the route; they know we'll get back to the parking lot when we're supposed to.
I think Wally took a nap at the top of the warm-up hill as he waited for the rest of us to catch up. He's really strong on the ascent and gets to the top way before anyone else. Mike did great getting finished in second place, and Harry put in a strong third-place finish.
The Joro spiders were out in force today, though really none over the trails as we hiked. Lee took a great photo of a female Joro fixing her web.
Thanks to Lee for all the great photos he took of our hike today. ~ Joyce
