Today's was an another excellent hike, with a group of vets all able to keep up the brisk pace, so that we clocked in about 5.5 miles in our two hours, including a few water breaks and a long break to try to capture pictures of a white deer!

The deer was a buck, maybe an 8 pointer, that was such an extraordinary sight. It was very pale, almost white, and it didn't automatically flee from us. Unfortunately, it was pretty deep in the woods, so getting a good picture was difficult. Lee got the clearest shot, which is in this album.

We passed Dave-O on the river trail this morning. He was a trip leader with the AOC, and led many wonderful hikes. He looked great. We also passed Bea Bea (I don't know how she spells her name), who is a lady we see almost every time we hike at Island Ford.

Guess who was first up the warmup hill today? Wally, of course! He's going to be hard to beat. Elizabeth and Marge got up the hill second and third.

We had a cloudy morning and a strong breeze today, which kept us a little cooler, especially with the temperature staying in the low 70's.

Lee took some nice photos which have been added to the album. (Thanks, Lee!) ~ Joyce
