We had 15 fun hikers this morning at Island Ford CRNRA. We hiked 6.1 miles with 587 feet of elevation in 2:22 for a pace of 2.6mph. We started out cool, but most everybody was shedding layers after a couple of miles. It ended up being a very comfortable temperature during the hike. I'm pretty sure everyone had a good time because there was lots of jibber-jabbering and laughing which also means the pace was pretty good for everybody. We saw a huge blue heron who took off flying from Hewlett Pond. It was a sight to see. We also saw a really big hawk along the trail.  The birds have be eating well at Island Ford.
