Day 1 - Over seven miles of trail-free exploring through Bisti's hoodoos, badlands, and petrified wood, easily one of the strangest and most beautiful landscapes I've ever hiked.

Day 2 - Deception Peak and Lake Peak in the Santa Fe National Forest. The route climbs through fir and aspen to open alpine ridgeline, with sweeping views.

Day 3 - Rainy Day: Museums, Churches, Art Galleries, and Historic Downtown Santa Fe

Day 4 - Bandelier National Monument: Explored Frijoles Canyon's volcanic cliffs, where ancestral Pueblo people carved cave dwellings 800 years ago, and climbed wooden ladders up to the Alcove House.

+ Los Alamos: the Bradbury Science Museum and the historic sites of the Manhattan Project, the secret wartime lab that changed history.

Day 5 - Hike the Rio Grande Gorge's West Rim Trail for sweeping views of the 800-foot basalt canyon carved into the high desert.

+ Taos Pueblo for a walk through the 1,000-year-old adobe village, one of the longest continuously inhabited communities in the U.S.

Day 6 - Wheeler Peak and Williams Lake. The snow came in two days before our arrival, making for a wonderful hike with snow-capped mountains in the background.
