14 members participated on our hike at Island Ford this morning. Everyone was ready for a fun hike, and I think we managed it. We saw a large buck with big antlers during the hike, and I got a big surprise when a squirrel fell out of a tree and onto my shoulder. l don't know which of us was more shocked, but he took off across the creek and up another tree.
We covered 6.4 miles with 617 feet of elevation in 2:37 including and extended bathroom break at the visitor center.
We welcomed Cheryl on her 7th AOC hike. I hope she enjoyed it and will come on many more hikes in the future.
A special thank you to Joyce for sharing the great photos she took on the hike. You can view them by clicking on the Album icon at above right.
