Urban Hike - Riverside Park to Azalea Park over the Boardwalk to Willeo Park and Back - Saturday Morning Highlights.

We had another fantastic urban hike today at another one of Atlanta’s most popular areas - this one along the Chattahoochee River in Roswell.

We could not have asked for better weather with a starting temp around 47 degrees, sunny, and no chance of rain.  We covered a distance of a little over 6 miles with very little elevation gain in the two-hour event.

Starting right around 8:30 am, eight of us headed out along the river at Riverside Park, then making our way over to Azalea Park where we encountered the in-progress, third annual, Run for Cookies 5K road race sponsored by the Chattahoochee Nature Center - which we walked by on our way to the turnaround spot Willeo Park.

Now we know why we saw so many of the runners, who completed the event, carrying Girl Scout Cookies - the proceeds from the race went to the organization.  How sweet is that! (pun intended)

We finished up right on time at 10:30 am back at the starting point, Riverside Park.

Thanks to all who joined us, especially two of our newest members, Jai and Michelle.
