We were surprised to learn that the park will be closed completely from Dec. 7 through Dec. 14 for tree removal in preparation for the renovation of the trails at Island Ford. After the 14th. just certain trials will be closed. The Visitor Center and the road will remain open, so folks can stiill buy passes.

The day was chilly and gloomy today, but the spirits of the group were high, and the hike was great. No surprise that Wally was first up the warm-up hill. No one even thought of challenging him today.

Everyone's GPS had different readings, but we hiked at least 5.5 miles with a couple of water breaks. We did the entire lollipop trail today, which we haven't done in several weeks.

Next week's Thursday morning hike will be at Vickery Creek. It will be interesting to be at a different location! ~ Joyce
