Write Up:We ended up with 13 hikers at Bowmans Island for a 6.4 mile hike with about 450 feet of elevation. We had all seasoned hikers on this one, so we were able to maintain a steady 2.7 mph pace with no stragglers. It was a bit cool at the start of the hike, but by the time we got to the top of the first hill everyone was warm. The trails were in very good shape and we only had one fall on the hike. It was a quiet one, though. We saw a great blue heron and a deer. On yesterday's hike, when we saw some deer, I mentioned that seeing deer in North Georgia is a lot like seeing squirrels. There are a lot of them. There was lots of talking and laughing, so I think everybody had a good time.
