Write Up:

Such a pleasant hike today! I was concerned with the forecast of cold air and very high winds - - and afraid that the trails in the woods would be muddy due to yesterday's rain - - but how lucky we were! It was cool, sunny, and close to the ground, not too windy, especially in the woods.  And the trails were surprisingly free of mud.

We had a wonderful assortment of newbies today! Teresa was on her very first hike today, as was Julie. They talked throughout the hike and exchanged phone numbers when we finished. How nice that they have formed a friendship already! Also new were Violette ("V") on her first hike and Karen on her 4th. I hope to see all of them many times on our local hikes.

Our goal was to hike 4 miles, but we actually covered 4.7. However, no one seemed to mind, especially with our nice stops to play horseshoes and get views (sorry as they were) from the deck behind Riverside Park. We also strolled through the garden of the Stations of the Cross behind St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Thanks to Rocky and Lee for the photos. They're always so nice to add to the album. ~ Joyce
