We did introductions at the end of the parking lot. We started by going up Pigeon Hill on the Little Kennesaw Mountain Trail until we came to the New Salem Church Trail. We stopped for a group picture at the new Salem Church. As we approached the fence around New Salem Church four deer jumped up and out of the area. Yes, we were surprised. I have never seen deer inside the fenced area. We followed it until it met the Noses Creek Trail. Turning left on the Noses Creek Trail, we followed it to Whitlock Road. We crossed Whitlock Road, crossed Whitlock Road and followed the Cease Fire Trial to the intersection of the Old John Ward Trail and returned to the Noses Creek Trail where we entered the Hardage Mill Trail. We followed the Hardage Mill Trail until it met the Noses Creek Trail until it met the Noses Creek Trail and returned to the parking lot. The weather was chilly to start. However, it warmed up quickly.

I was wondering what the difference between hiking this trail in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction. Today we hiked the clockwise version of this hike with 709 feet of elevation change. On 11/26/25 I did the counterclockwise version of this hike with 705 feet of elevation change. Both were 5.07 miles.
