Sun, Feb 1 2026 - Sunday Morning Hike from Riverside Park to Don White Park (View Original Event Details)

Congratulations to Marge on completing her 100th AOC event! She planned for her centennial weeks ago, and we were determined to make it happen. The weather brought pause to us (20 degrees with a predicted 15 mph wind), but we had 15 folks on the hike last night, so we determined to make it a "go." Sadly, 6 people dropped this morning, but Marge was willing to hike, as were 8 others, so we decided to bundle up and do the event. It turned out to be just fine; in fact, some of us got a little overheated along the way. The feared wind never became a factor, and we were comfortable throughout the hike.
Today's AOC group was the last group to start a hike at Riverside before it closes for renovation today at dusk. It's planned to remain closed until summer of 2027. Because of this, I took several photos of the park, because it will never look the same.
We were happy to welcome Sasha to the hike - - her 2nd AOC event! She was a great addition to the group - - super friendly and very happy to hike with us.
Marge and Ted treated us to homemade cookies and cocoa after the hike. We were comfortable standing around for a while enjoying the refreshments and company. A most successful centennial event! ~ Joyce
