It was a sunny, cool day for our hike Saturday; no rain! We hiked 6.2 miles on a paved trail with a 568 foot elevation gain in a little over 2 hours. We saw some wildlife across the street from the trail: ducks, geese, deer and the rare “Rockdale White Heron” also known as an egret to some - or most! We also saw a brown mink or weasel, unsure since the specimen was not in the best shape.

After our hike, many of us explored the monastery museum and store while others ventured down to the chapel and the lake. 

It was a pleasant hike, and we thank you all for joining us. This was Jeremiah’s first hike with the AOC, so welcome.
