We parked at the Pigeon Hill parking lot and checked in. We did an explanation of today’s workplan, and In addition to us we had 28 volunteers from Hillgrove JROTC, and two individuals that helped. We started where the KSU Association of Fratermies and Sororities left off in January filling in the horse steps that were started in September before the government shutdown. We moved the Graded Aggregate Base (GAB) bucket brigade up the hill and later carrying the buckets about 700 feet from the Noses Creek Trail to the worksite until the Gator arrived. After we completed filling in the forms, we addressed erosion issues on either side of the forms and trashed out the trail creep alongside the new steps that hikers created as they went around the uncompleted steps. We also had the help of Ranger Michael Christman driving the Gator bring more GAB after we ran out of the 800 lbs. staged at the worksite.
Everyone worked hard and we finished the six steps.
Thanks to Brad for joining us in his first event, Imani for joining us on her third event, and Gerson for joining us on his seventh event.
