An all-star group of 11 hikers enjoyed a fabulous hike today on the Bartram Trail to Rabun Bald and Flint Knob. It started out foggy and cool, but gradually warmed up and by the time we summitted the tower on Rabun Bald the sky was clear and the fog had moved on. That gave us fantastic views of the mountains in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The rain the day before melted most of the snow and ice, but a few patches remained, but we were easily able to avoid walking on the ice to enjoy great company and almost non-stop views. On the way to and from Rabun Bald we had twenty stream crossings, not counting the wet and muddy parts of the trail! It was a perfect hike and a great day.
