Write Up:

The AOC enjoyed hiking one of the most iconic sections of the Cumberland Trail. And the Cumberland Plateau is so cool! We saw lofty vistas, deep rivers, cascading creeks, plunging ravines, and boulders galore. Starting at beautiful Rainbow Lake, we crossed the scenic bridge at Middle Creek, past huge cliffs and bluffs as we proceeded to Edwards Point Overlook. There we paused to enjoy sweeping views of the Tennessee River before proceeding through more ravines awash with cascades and small waterfalls. Reaching Mushroom Rock, we stopped for photos before heading down into a deep gorge to the 225-foot long swinging bridge over North Suck Creek for lunch. The bridge was closed but we enjoyed a fun lunch at the creek as we watched trail runners race past before returning. What a fun day!
