We parked at the Pigeon Hill parking lot and checked in. We did an explanation of today’s workplan, and a safety brief. We got the tools out of the truck and headed down the Noses Creek trail to the horse steps on the Hardage Mill Trail. In addition to us we had 2 volunteers from Hillgrove JROTC, 16 members of the KSU Climbing Club, and 4 individuals that helped. In February we filled in steps 1 to 6 Graded Aggregate Base (GAB). Since than the park added steps 7 and 8. 6 Volunteers and 6 Crew leaders started on step 7. We were about halfway done filling it in when the Calvary arrived, another volunteer and the 16 from KSU. The 12 of us were getting tired. Twelve fresh college volunteers and another high school volunteers made a big difference. We formed a bucket brigade passing buckets of GAB left by the park at the bottom of step 1 up to step 7 than 8. We finished the 2 new steps and started cyclic maintenance on the Hardage Mill Trail working back toward the parking lot.
Everyone worked hard and we finished the two new steps and about of third of the planned cyclic maintenance scheduled.
