First an update on Island Ford. I stopped by to see Darren after the hike. Based on a decision made on Wednesday, May 6^th Island Ford will not open before the end of May. He asked me when Joyce was do back, I said June 19^th. His reply was she may be back in time for the opening.

It poured rain up until a few minutes before the hike started. I need to change this is an amphibious hike, at least for the first mile. The trail varied between large puddles of water and areas where it appeared not to have rained at all. We couldn’t help but notice how high the water level was on the creeks we passed. Based on my garden rain gauge I received a hair short of 3.5 inches of rain.

We met at Groveway Park, went down road by the fields, zigged then zagged and zigged again along the trails of Vickery Creek going to the waterfall. After the last zig we headed back to the parking lot and returning by the trail going up the creek
