We got to learn so much about the new BHR trail from Stephen, who was a volunteer with GATC and helped building the trail.

One interesting tidbit we picked up is that the trail wasn’t blazed on purpose to maintain the sense of wilderness, but no worries, it would be really hard to get lost!

We were so fortunate with the weather—overcast skies and a steady, strong breeze kept the rain at bay until we’d already completed 12 miles of the 14-mile hike, 3300 ft elevation gain.

We enjoyed lunch by the lake, and Nahid couldn’t resist jumping right in!

Finally, the icing on the cake, Yvonne tackled her first D5, a tough one for sure, and well earned!
