Write Up:

There was a good chance of rain predicted, worse we got a few seconds of sprinkles. We had an overcast morning with a light wind and 70-degree temperature. We did introductions in the Powers Island parking lot. We headed down the Powers Island Trail by the river, went until it dead ended, and did the loop up the hill. We stopped by the raft launch on Powers Island and the restrooms and headed across the river. We talked about the trail under I285 so that those on the hike would know the trail goes to Arkes Mill Road. We then followed the road in a counterclockwise direction heading for the Columns Drive parking lot. As we returned, we looked for the large snapping turtle in the swampy area. There were no turtles to see today. We continued to the Interstate North parking lot and crossed the river again.

Thanks to Susan for joining us on her first and Jessica for joining us on her fifth.

Mike
