Write Up:

Island Ford's new trails are really quite easy to learn, and they're much easier to navigate on with very few roots and rocks. So far, I've done three different routes, and have yet to include the lollipop trail. We've been lucky to finish right on time each week, with 5 to 5.5 miles covered.

We had a full group of 15 today (plus Rio), and were delighted to see David W. and Mike Collins, two wonderful friends whom I haven't hiked with in a long time. David has always been first up the warmup hill when he's on the hike, and today was no exception. As a matter of fact, he didn't even have to run to be first. One day, David . . . .

It was another very warm, humid day, and I'm quite sure there wasn't a dry shirt by the end of the hike. We took several water breaks, but we also kept up a brisk pace when we moved.

Seven of us went to Samad's Mediterranean Grill after the hike. They'll be moving into their new location in September, around Labor Day.

Thanks to Lee for the great photos he took today, which have been added to the album. Especially nice is the first adult Joro spider of the season - - a large female at the apartment lagoon. ~ Joyce
