We had a great group of hikers exploring the brand new Byron Reece trail, taking it to the AT, then to Blood Mountain, then the Slaughter Creek trail to Lake Winfield Scott, where we ate lunch. We returned by the Jarrard Gap trail to the AT, over Blood again, then back to the Byron Reece trailhead. We enjoyed outstanding weather that — unbelievable for late July — was cool until near the end of our hike! We all agreed that the new trail is great!
