We had a great group of 14 hikers today at Hyde Farm/Mulberry Creek. The weather was absolutely perfect which made the uphills a little easier. When we got to Morgan Falls Dam there were two Blue Herons flying together. One ran a comorant off a rock before he landed. We stopped by the new old cabin being rebuilt near the community center. They are doing a great job on it. Then we hiked up to Hyde Farm for a little look aroung before heading to Mulberry Creek to do 14 creek crossings before heading over a ridge trail toward the dam. On the way back, we followed the trail that parallels (had to look that one up) the ridge trail that we took on the way out. After doing all the creek crossings again, we climbed the last hill, crossed the dam and headed back to the parking lot.

As always, the hike had several new blow downs that we climbed over, went around and crawled under. All obstacles (yep, looked that one up, too) were taken on with a smile, and no whining (mostly). All in all, a great hike.

We had Newbie Santiago on his 6th AOC hike. I look forward to hiking with him many more times.

We also had Brand New Newbie Janice on her very first AOC hike. I got to tell you, every time we encountered a new obstacle, she got more excited. She definately fit in well with the group and I expect to see her on a lot more hikes.
