What a fantastic Sunday morning hike with the AOC! Our group of ten fast-paced hikers covered three miles in just one hour, taking in the sights of the river and Morgan Falls Reservoir. Along the way, we spotted a great blue heron.

We also encountered a very large snapping turtle that appeared seriously injured. A concerned man stopped to help, along with Luz, Joyce T, Rebecca, & Erica.  Rebecca poured water on the turtle, and it responded immediately by opening its mouth to let the water in. Joyce, Rebecca, and Luz then gently placed the turtle on a beach towel and returned him to the Chattahoochee, where he appeared to feel better as he swam away. Additionally, a warm welcome to our newest member, Laura B., for completing her very first hike with us—the first of many to come with the Atlanta Outdoor Club! Thanks to everyone for the great energy and quick action on the trail!
