Write Up:

As if timed perfectly, the rains fell both before and after our hike, but not during.  Our merry group of 7 enjoyed a casual hike along the different trails of the Chattahoochee Nature Center and getting "back to nature."  We took in the nice scenery and enjoyed the brief bit of warmer temps the cloud cover provided.

The trails were peaceful and not crowded at all despite the CNC's free admission day and holiday market.  The crowds were there earlier in the day and left with the rain, so we had the grounds almost to ourselves.  There was only the occasional couple passing by or the small group of boys with their chaperone dads in tow whom appeared to be particularly interested in the large male beaver slowly making his way to his food dish unperturbed by the excited bustle of fascinated youth.

Our group had the good fortune of running into one of the wonderful volunteers, Jon, who was gracious to be our own guide and give us interesting facts about the resident animals, including several raptors on site.  We were able to watch as another staff member prepared to feed the vultures while yet another CNC staff person listed off information pertaining to these wise creatures.

We hiked, we saw wildlife, we learned new things, and had fun conversation along the way.  Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
