POST-TRIP ARCHIVE, INITIATED BY CHARLIE, 4/11/2011:
Our friendly, fun-loving and fearless? group of 27 "swampers" had a blast on this 2nd annual adventure in Stephen C. Foster State Park and its incredible surrounding Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.  The weather couldn't have been much more perfect!  Bobby and I want to thank each and every one of our AOC camper-paddlers for for making this trip so much fun!  I'm proud of how we worked together so cheerfully to share our vehicles, boats and camping gear. And kudos to all for your delicious contributions to our potluck meals and campfires at the campsite and to our mid-swamp boat-side picnic at Minnie's Lake! 

I think we all agree that we "dodged the bullet" in fine style by making our big Saturday Swamp Safari happen exactly as planned despite being "blindsided" on Friday with the news that all boating in the swamp would be almost surely be banned Saturday & Sunday due the Federal Government's budget impasse! Thanks to Glen and Sharon for volunteering so well in the Saturday morning rush to get everyone's canoes rented and parking passes paid for!

Special thanks to Bobby and his crew who did such a great job preparing our Saturday dinner while the rest of us were out on the trail by our campsite enjoying the ranger-led "Bat Hike!" The shrimp, chicken & beef stir-fry dishes, salads, pies and other desserts were delicious and nicely presented!
