Write Up:
Richard Zalik led this Saturday morning AOC hike, and I was his co-leader. We hiked over 3 miles on portions of the blue, yellow and red trails - sometimes along steep slopes overlooking the Etowah River, Allatoona Dam and Lake Allatoona. It was beautiful, and our group enjoyed the warm day and sunny skies. We went off trail a bit to get some great shots of the dam and then continued down the ridge to the lakeshore. We spent a few minutes taking photos on the vivid red clay "beach" before our short rock scramble back into the woods. The dappled light and cooler forest temperature were perfect for our final mile over the rolling terrain.
