Write Up:
Richard Zalik led this Saturday afternoon hike, and I was his co-leader. We hiked 4.5 miles on the Allatoona Pass trail (an interpretive trail through the battlefield), beside Lake Allatoona and along the old railroad bed. The hilly terrain has beautiful views of the lake. We went off trail - clambering through underbrush and sliding down tall ridges into leafy, muddy gullies. Despite rapidly gathering clouds, the rain held off and the temperature remained unseasonally balmy.
