Write Up:
Spring is a time for rapid seasonal change, but it was still amazing to see what a big difference there was within one week at Jones Bridge. Many in our group hiked the same trails last Thursday, and we could tell that spring had sprung. Tom and I co-led this 5.5 mile hike with Tony, and we never tire of Jones Bridge because we always see something new. This time we were treated to two great blue herons performing aerial acrobatics over the river, dogwood and Eastern redbud trees making the forest look alive in Technicolor, numerous deer venturing tentatively out of the woods as we took a break in the orchard behind the Education Center and more spring wildflowers than we'd ever seen gleaming in the late afternoon sunlight. The weather was a hiker's dream, and those of us who are big shutter bugs couldn't help but stop every few yards to capture the beauty of the day.
