Write Up:
The Sweetwater Creek State Park hike was enjoyed with clear skies and warm weather. Although, the forecast was for a high temperature of 97, the morning welcomed the group with a much more mild temperature and cool breeze. The hike began south of Sweetwater on a access trail that linked to the white trail, and continued along the river. At the old iron bridge 2 trees appeared to have freshly attracted a beavers attention, by showing signs of scrapings. After a break near the Welcome Center, the hike continued on what was thought to be the last leg of the hike. Nearing Jacks Lake yellow caution tape blocked the trail forcing the hike to return to the Welcome Center and take the blue trail back. The total hike time was 4 and a half hours and estimated distance between 10 and 12 miles. And, although the distance was much greater than expected, smiles and good attitudes were maintained by all!
