Yet another great hike at Sweetwater! This hike started with mild temperatures in the high 70's. The group kept a good pace and ended the hike around 11am with the temps just reaching mid 80's. On the hike the group saw many frogs, some no bigger than a dime and a few others that were normal sized. Early in the hike an adult White Tail Deer was spotted. This was the first Deer Ryan, the trip leader, had ever seen in Sweetwater. About Mid way through the trip, near the old yellow trail bridge, Beaver scrapings were seen on 4 or more trees. As we left the bridge about a 4 to 5 foot snake was spotted on the trail, that was later identified as possibly being an Eastern Mud Snake. Other wild life seen were turtles, a butterfly, and lizards.

This hike is much more pleasant with the warmer temperatures, now that the welcome center is open more often. Being able to cool off in the air-conditioning and refill our water supplies is a great relief and makes for a very pleasant final stretch to the end of the hike.
