Write Up:
Congrats to Scott Kozlowski for proposing, writing up, and organizing this delightful late afternoon paddling adventure on the flatwater part of the "Hooch" above Morgan Falls Dam -- he did a fabulous job as our primary leader and guide.
We launched from the convenient free parking lot and boat ramp at Roswell's Azalea Park and enjoyed lots of friendly conversation as we paddled the 4 miles to the dam and back to the park via a more sinuous and adventurous route.  We were treated to spectacular sights along the way and lingered awhile at the amazingly steep "Cedar Cliffs" in whose rocky grottos high above the water young people were climbing and partying.
Saw several great blue herons, both in flight and posing for us like statues along the shore.  We had nice relaxing stops both at Morgan Falls Dam and at Sandy Springs' beautiful new Overlook Park where we got out of our kayaks and canoes to sightsee, shoot snapshots and stretch our legs.
The blue-sky "Indian summer" weather could hardly have been more perfect for such an event.  As we concluded our roundtrip adventure (at about 7:30) the almost-full moon was rising "upstream" above the lake as the sun was setting behind us.
We're "gung-ho" about getting together again soon for an encore of the same aquatic itinerary, and next time (perhaps Sun afternoon Nov 6?) may even include a mid-paddle campfire and hamburger/hotdog cookout at Overlook Park!
