These two hikes had a lot of potential on a gorgeous autumn day and they definitely lived up to that and more. We started with our warm up hike up Boteler Peak and took a long break at the summit taking in the views and snapping photos.  We met another group at the top and it included some of the people who do trail maintenace on the entire Chunky Gal trail as well as the Fires Creek Rim Trail.  So was nice to thank them for all their hard work as we were enjoying a bit of both trails today.

From there we drove to the trailhead to head up Tusquitee Bald. This is a fairly steep trail with about 2400' of ascent in just about 3.4 miles, and was challenging after already doing about 6 miles and 1600' at Boteler.  It was a grind to get to the top but also an exciting hike.  We enjoyed the views at the top and then headed down, just finishing a few min after sunset.  We had a long drive home but had made the most of the day and were tired but satisfied.
