Write Up:Attendance for our event shifted a bit, so by the time of our hike, we were down to three adventurous folks: Joyce, Michael Hitt, and Sid Dhanasri. After finishing our exploration of Big Tree Forest Preserve, Michael offered to show us some interesting sites at Morgan Falls Park just a short drive from the Preserve. Michael is co-authoring a book on Sandy Springs, so he was a wealth of knowledge of Morgan Falls and took us on a bushwhacking tour of some ancient Indian shelters and Civil War excavations in the area. We turned our D1 stroll into a challenging adventure and thoroughly enjoyed the morning's exploration. We ended our adventure by getting a close-up view of the dam. This was exciting! I've seen the dam from across the river at Gold Branch, but I never before saw it close up and personal - - from the water-release side. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Mike! Sid and I learned a great deal from you.
