Hi everyone,

Thank you for braving the cloudy skies, continuous mist and the biting cold wind atop Blood Mountain this past Sunday.  This was an extremely fast group who made it to the top of Blood Mountain from Lake Winfield Scott in about 1.5 hours.  While we would usually enjoy the scenic southernly view atop the prominent rock adjacent to the shelter, unfortuantely, on this trip, the views were severely limited by the overcast skies and fog that was continuous throughout our trip.  Not only that, but the wind at the top of the mountain made it a little too chilly to hang out and enjoy the view of the fog.  Instead, we hunkered down inside the shelter, which has been recently renovated by the replacement of the roof, while enjoying our lunch.  Even inside the shelter, the shivering cold prevented any of us from wanting to linger at the top after we finished our lunch.  A couple of us remarked that even when we returned to the park and ride at Mansell, it was still bitterly cold outside.  Thank you everyone for making this a great trip under challenging conditions.  I hope to hike with all of you soon.

Bob
