Although rain was in the forecast for the hike on Sunday, Feb. 4th, the hike went on without a hitch. In fact the hikers were met with wonderful weather. Everyone on the hike had high hopes of meeting John Travolta or Robert De Niro, who were in town shooting a movie, at Sweetwater State Park. Half the group took the harder path at the creek stair split. Ryan took the group, who wanted to climb the rock face, along the creek to the wet rock face. This presented a much more difficult situation than the normal dry granite face. One of the hikers discovered a small slip leaves little chance to stay dry, as she slipped into the water. She quickly recovered, and chose another path that others were choosing to avoid the wet face of the rock. About 2 miles into the hike a Park Ranger approached the group notifying them of the closed situation of the park, and ushered everyone back outside the park.

The path followed was Tributary's private path to the White Trail up to the Mill. At the Mill the group turned around and went back to Tributary's path system where the Mountain Bike path was explored for about ½ mile. One of the group member's GPS indicated just over 5 miles. Everyone seemed to be happy and enjoyed the shorter form of the Sweetwater Southern Trail Head Hike.

Sari was our new member on this hike, and she proved to be strong willed and a real trouper! Great job to everyone, and I (Ryan) hope to see you all again soon!
