Write Up:
After a quick drive from Atlanta, we started the hike at the Ocmulgee National Monument. There were several very large mounds and a earthen lodge mound that was used by the Native American tribes. From the top of one mound, we could see the skyline of Macon. After the mounds we hiked through several trails and along a marshy area. After the monument, we walked along the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail to downtown Macon. The were a small stand of Cherry Trees still in blossom. After a few pictures, we made our way to the festival grounds, ate some food, drank some lemonaid, and enjoyed the festival fairgrounds. Click below for some pictures.
