Sat, Mar 10 2012 - A fitness hike at Stone Mountain on some different trails (View Original Event Details)

Trip Leader(s): Bob J
Participants:Bob J, Eric P, Jim

Write Up:
The weather was kind to us on this wonderful day of hiking. We had three people drop out in the 11th hour, but the three of us who participated had a great hike. We where graced with bountiful sunshine and warm temperatures.

We averaged 3.1 mph until we took a short break. We ended up with just over 10.5 miles due to the very strong young lad, Eric, who directed us straight up the mountain on both ascents instead of 'zig-zaging' to reduce the intensity of the ascent. Our overal average speed was nicely within the planned 2.5 to 3.0 mph with a 2.8 mph overal average for the day.

With the small number of attendees, Bob decided to wear his 40 lb pack and pushed the pace on the flats and descents in preparation for the GA AT throught hike at the end of the month.

Can't wait to do it again; hopefully with more people.
