I celebrated my 2-year Atlanta Outdoor Club anniversary by leading a plant identification and photography hike at Jones Bridge. Our group gathered at 10 am on Easter Sunday, and the sunny, cool morning quickly warmed up. We hiked over 5 miles in less than 3 hours and saw a red shouldered hawk, poison ivy, lyre leaf sage, toadshade trilliums, mayapples, violets, Canada geese, dog hobble, deer, velvet bugs, a green anole, yellow flag iris, Piedmont azalea, yucca, ironwood trees, turkeytail mushrooms, a five lined skink, a snake, little brown jugs, and more. I plan to lead many more hikes like this one, so keep your eyes on the AOC calendar. After our hike, we enjoyed the brunch buffet at the Haynes Bridge El Azteca.

I used my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 camera and the Wildflowers of Tennessee, the Ohio Valley, and the Southern Appalachians plant guide book.

Special thanks to Dennis for sharing some of his shots for the attached photo album.
