Write Up:

Well tonight's Chastain Bike Ride was certainly an adventure!

Things got off to a bang when Amy's bike got a flat while we were loading it into the vehicle.  After that was repaired, my very own bike got a flat when I unloaded it!!  The intense heat apparently cracked the valve stem and it popped right off.  So, 2 flats, and we haven't even started the ride yet!  I left my spare tube at home in my other saddle bag, so I rushed to a nearby bike shop for the repair.

We started the ride just a few minutes late, which was ok with everyone.  Less than 10 minutes into the ride, Amy's same rear tire went flat again, this time due to a small puncture.  While repairing her bike, 2 nice road bikers cruised by and helped us with the repair job.

Finally, after all flats were repaired, we were on our way and successfully cruised the majestic neighborhoods of Buckhead and Sandy Springs.  The heat certainly made us all work on the large hills, but we all got through it safe and sound, enjoying nice views of Chastain park in the last part of the ride loop.

A small group of us went over to Fellini's afterwards and enjoyed hot pizza and cold drinks on the outdoor patio.

Chastain Park is a challenging place for a bike ride, admittedly, but the group had great spirits and a good time was had by all.  The surrounding neighborhoods are gorgeous and hilly, and all in all it's a good spot to exercise and appreciate our lovely City of Atlanta.

Stay tuned for the next AOC Urban Bike Adventure!!
