Well, we had an AOC first!  We came across a chicken in the brush at Island Ford! Aaron was the first to hear it . . . and sure enough, a big chicken was clucking away not 20 feet from our group.  It was kind enough to pose for a couple of pictures, which you can see in the album.  We kept a moderate pace for the hike, taking in the pond, the root cellar, the boat ramp, and - - of course -- the chicken.
