Write Up:
We arrived at the Amicalola State Park Office around 11am on Saturday. Everyone showed up prepared for the snowy and cold hike up to the Len Foote Inn. We went up the more difficult trail, which is close to 7 miles. We were all so cold and ready for a hot shower, cup of hot cocoa and a warm fire. Some of us kicked back and watched the sunrise...it was beautiful with the snow on the ground. We had an awesome dinner: turkey breast, cornbread stuffing, buttered corn, steamed vegetables, salad, and rolls. After dinner, a presentation followed by an AT hiker who hiked from GA to VA. He talked about his experiences on the trail and good tips. We also played a game of 90's version Trivial Pursuit. On Sunday morning, we had a yummy breakfast with eggs, biscuits and gravy, grits, and sausage. Our hike back was about 5 miles. It was cold, but sunny. Overall, everyone had a really good time and it was a very successful event.
