What a day of adventures - - all good!  We initiated the Amicalola River hike into the AOC repertoir, and a great little loop trail it is.  Because it's part of the WMA, it now has a parking fee for each member (not the cars).  Fees must be paid in advance at Walmart ($3.50), but a pass for 8 can be purchased for $10, plus a $3.50 processing fee.  Folks over 65 are exempt.

The trail was beautiful with lots of hills and exposed roots. (Poles were helpful.)  Since we planned to do the loop twice, we went in the opposite direction the second time around. The scenery was beautiful, especially our stop by the river at the end of the double loop, where we took in the End of the World Rapids.  We spent quite a while on the river bolders just gazing at the surging flow of water.

The return trip home was punctuated with a stop at the City Hall Liquor Store to see where they sell actual moonshine produced in a distillery in City Hall (Dawsonville). A couple of us bought a bottle to see what all the talk is about.  The jury is still out.

We stopped for a Mexican lunch at the Fajita Grill before returning to the Mansell Park and Ride. What a perfect day for a hike!
