Write Up:

The fall wildflowers were at their brilliant peak in the beautiful GPC garden this morning, the weather was gorgeous, and everyone had a wonderful time.  During our guided walk through the wildflower garden and fern garden our instructor Larry Winslett demonstrated with his own digital SLR how to take great flower photos and offered helpful tips and tricks about reducing background clutter,  achieving the desired depth of field, experimenting with various ISO settings, etc.  In his excellent slide presentation which followed Larry showed us dozens of gorgeous examples of the native flowers and plants of Stone Mountain.  Especially interesting and gratifying was his discussion of the Park's long range plan for continuing to protect its designated wild areas, which actually make up about 65% of the property within the Park's boundaries.  Several of us availed ourselves of autographed copies of Larry's two gorgeous books of his own photographs and annotations: "Stone Mountain - a Walk in the Park" and "Wildflowers of Stone Mountain - a Field Guide." -Submitted by Charlie Friday afternoon
