We met up with the Dogwood City Grotto in Rising Fawn GA for the Hwy 11 trash cleanup. The DCG thanked us for coming out to help with the effort. Then we all joined for lunch at a local diner. The 4 of us from AOC and 3 DCG members went on to Tumbling Rock Cave. Alexander of DCG provided some history lessons on the saltpeter mining site and on the geology of the cave. We checked out the prettier sections of the cave such as the "elephant's Feet" formations and "Collonade" on our way back to the "King's Shower", a 400' dome. There was a good amount of water coming from the top of the dome, since we were getting some unexpected rains outside. After the dome we moved back to the "Christmas Tree" formation, and on to the beginning of the "suicide crawl." It was getting late, so we stopped before the harder crawling section and headed back out. We spent close to 4 hours in the cave.
